Magical Family Trip to Iceland

My family and I just returned from a magical trip of a lifetime, exploring Iceland with Ingi, our amazing guide from Deluxe Iceland. From the moment we landed until we departed, Ingi took such thoughtful care of every detail. We spent ten days, with adventures that included fly fishing (we caught Arctic Char), boating among ice bergs in a glacial lagoon, hiking volcano crater rims, exploring waterfalls, puffin cliffs on the Westman Islands and bathing in geothermal pools. And every day we enjoyed amazing food, and beautiful hotels. Deluxe Iceland arranged an excellent itinerary and Ingi made sure our every need was taken care of. His knowledge of all things Icelandic made the trip a very rich experience. He even did advance research into my family’s ancestral home in Isafjordur prior to our arrival and was able to take us directly to my great grandparents home, from which my family emigrated to Canada in 1898! Ingi’s enthusiasm for our itinerary made it so much fun. Deluxe Iceland created a once in a lifetime magical trip for our family–one that we will be talking about for years to come!

Deluxe Iceland is Flawless

WOW! It’s impossible to find the words to express how thankful we are for our experience with Deluxe Iceland and our time the owner, Sigurður Magnússon. Our trip was flawless from the moment we were picked up until the very last minute as our adventure came to an end. The only direction I gave them were the dates, areas we wanted to explore and we were up for anything. I’m so happy I left it all up to them. They did not disappoint! Our entire stay was seamless, every excursion, every private guide, every meal and accommodation worked out perfectly. We were never waiting or confronted with any obstacle. Every detail was perfectly executed. Sig went the extra step to take group pictures, help us with our gear before and after excursions, handled our luggage as we traveled to different hotels along the coast, you name it, he was always there to ensure we had no worries or stress along the way. Deluxe Iceland also has beautiful vehicles that are immaculate and fully equipped with, WiFi, changing cords, water bottles and GPS monitors that track where you have been and to show where you will be going. However, the best part of about our booking through Deluxe Iceland was spending time with Sig. He is a tremendous ambassador to Iceland. He is very knowledgeable about his country and conveys the information so nicely as you travel throughout the country. It’s far better than trying to travel the country without a guide. With Sig doing the driving my husband and I were both able to enjoy the scenery and learn far more about Iceland than we could through a guide book. We also had our teenage daughter with us. He made sure we stopped often enough to feed a growing teenager. So thankful!! We also got plenty of time alone, Sig would join us through a portion of our hikes and then allow us to enjoy the rest of the hike to explore at our pace. We mentioned things we would like to see if possible while on the trip and he wove them in seamlessly throughout the days, such as, Icelandic horses, puffins, reindeer, Arctic Turns nesting area, waterfalls that are not on any map, local celebrities, Icelandic food, including pizza and cinnamon rolls and drinks. Everything we brought up in conversation some how he made happen. Such a wonderful guide. He made sure we checked all the boxes. This vacation is going in the books as one of the best vacation ever. We are already talking about when we can return and use Sig and his team at Deluxe Iceland again.

Best trip ever

Sig and his company did a super job accommodating our family of grandparents, and two families with kids ranging in age from 1 1/2 to 6. They made sure we all had fun. Hotels were wonderful as well as a stay at a villa that fit all 9 of us. Kids loved the petting zoos, pony rides, swimming pools and best ice cream ever. They also were enthralled with the monster truck and the ride on the glacier and walking through the ice cave. The adults were enthralled with the Blue Lagoon, hiking to waterfalls and snowmobiling. Food was excellent too. I can’t say enough wonderful things about the care and detail provided by Sig. We will be back again soon. Thank you.

Trip of a lifetime!

This was truly a once in a lifetime experience to a place none of us had ever been, made possible by Deluxe Iceland! Our tour guide, Jonas, in particular, made the trip extremely special. He took great care in making sure that all 11 members of our party, ranging in age from 2-77 years old, were happy, comfortable, and engaged in a wide range of activities. We were blown away by all the hidden treasures the island has to offer. We enjoyed breathtaking hikes to waterfalls, canyons, capes, caves, cliffs, volcanos, glaciers, and geothermal bathing, and were able to experience the local people and culture first hand at a local dairy farm and an extended stay at a private home in the countryside. If you want a first class trip where every detail is taken care of for you and meticulously planned out, Deluxe Iceland will take amazing care of you!

Incredible company and guide!

We schedule a week visit to Iceland at the end of Sept for the week of Thanksgiving through Victor at Deluxe Iceland. They gave our family of 5 (ages 13, 15, and 18) what we all consider the best vacation we have ever had and we have Deluxe Iceland to thank! They tailored the entire trip to the type of activities our family enjoys while still managing for us to cover all of the highlights of Iceland at this time of the year. They also managed to do this within 6 weeks of visiting. Jonas was our private guide and driver the entire time. All 5 of us absolutely adored him and he added a number of things that made our trip special. He has the perfect balance of knowing how involved to be and when it is time to chill or have family time. We were able to see the Northern Lights our second night in Iceland and Jonas took the time to make sure we had all the family pictures we needed to create our Christmas card and then had hot chocolate brewing in the back of the car to our surprise. When it was too windy one day to snow mobile, he suggested we go on ATVs and it was definitely the most favorite thing for our boys. Every day was something new, wonderful and private. The restaurants were equally amazing and varied and Jonas managed to find places with the best fries- which was what was most important to my daughter. The country and people in Iceland are absolutely amazing. I want to go back in the summer and experience new things. Highlights of our trip were: ice caving, seeing the Northern lights, visiting a family for a day of life on a traditional dairy farm (which surprisingly was one of my kids favorite things), private yacht to see the whales, walking, shopping and eating around Reykjavik (definitely go to Apotek), 4 wheeling in the snow and seeing hidden waterfalls. Blue Lagoon is also a must and I would go upon arrival vs. on your way out. We arrived at 6:30am and were there by 8:15 and it was a perfect way to start after getting no sleep on the flight.
