You will start the day by heading to the amazing Reykjanes Peninsula to enjoy a hike to the dormant volcano to see the newly formed lava formations and craters. The Land of Fire and Ice once again lived up to its name! Three volcanic eruptions in three years. Starting on March 19th, 2021 the eruption started in Geldingadalur valley, just south of Fagradalsfjall volcano ending in September the same year. Once again it started erupting in the same area at Meradalir valley from August 3rd to August 20th in 2022. Newly formed lava formations and craters can be seen. The hike will take approximately 1 – 2 hours each way, depending on how close you want to get, and the trail is conveniently marked. This is an ideal hike if the weather conditions are good. This is a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience and should not be missed! After all this head to Grindavík for a light lunch before taking a look at Gunnuhver hot spring, Reykjanesviti, and the bridge between two continents on your way back to Reykjavik.
